JPIAMR Secretariat

The Swedish Research Council hosts the Secretariat for the international collaboration on research into antimicrobial resistance, the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance. The Secretariat coordinates research programmes and international calls for research proposals, and supports collaborations to bridge gaps in knowledge about antibiotic resistance.

The Secretariat is the hub and the joint contact point for the member countries within the international collaboration Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance, JPIAMR.

The main tasks of the Secretariat are to

  • coordinate joint international calls for research proposals, conferences and workshops
  • follow up and analyse funded research within antimicrobial resistance, map resources and research priorities
  • coordinate and develop joint research agendas for the area

The Secretariat is also tasked with initiating and leading work teams and collaborations between the member countries, developing new forms of funding research, initiating and implementing communication inputs and providing support to the management of the collaboration.

JPIAMR, in collaboration with other stakeholders is leading the development of the One Health AMR Partnership. The main goal is to contribute to achieving the objectives of the European One Health Action Plan against AMR and the WHO Global Action Plan on AMR, both aimed at reducing the threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The first call and launch of other activities are planned to take place in 2025.
